Reverend Jay Madigan Bio
Starting at WUMC on 7-1-2011

A lot has happened since leaving
Williamsburg in 1997. As a number of you know. I married a pretty girl
from Lexington, Kentucky name Brandi. We have been married 13 years now
and have three children Brendan (11 yrs.), Shea (9 yrs.), and Ethan (7
yrs.). The four and a half years following my youth ministry at
Williamsburg I was the associate pastor at Trinity in Milford. I did
youth ministry and taught Disciple Bible Study, which was a continuation
of some of my work with many of you. I still remember those great
youth outings and Bible studies with many of you. While at Trinity I
began a Sunday School Class for Young Adults that began two other
people. It quickly grew to 25 people meeting in a cramped room that
went unused for a number of years. I began to sense that this group of
younger Christ followers could be the beginning of a new outreach to
young singles and married in our area. About six months later we
started a Modern worship service on a monthly "trial basis" that had
more in attendance that normal worship services combined! Today that
worship services is a mainstay for Trinity.
After that, my family (only four of us) was appointed to two
congregations (St. Paul & New Hope) in Preble county and a "third yet to
be created." With the help of the Dayton North and South Districts (and
many other mission minded leaders) we started a new congregation in the
Preble County YMCA called Crossroads. Crossroads partnered with the St.
Paul church and had over 70% unchurched people attending this new and
exciting congregation! It was a real "God-blessing" to be a part of see
many people make so many new commitments to Christ in an environment
that was welcoming to them. During this time our kids played sports and
made some great friends that they still visit today. Also Brandi's
mother moved to be near us and enjoys her time with the grand-kids.
Brandi and I appreciated it too!
The past four years at Hope Church it has been a joy to be part of a
congregation envisioning their new future in a growing community. They
made some prayerfully strategic decisions to reorient their worship
services to reach young families and singles for Christ and have began
to see new growth again. I applaud them for their mission minded out
look to make a change such. They have begun to be blessed with a steady
flow of growth again. My family has also enjoyed building new
relationships with the church and the neighbors during our time here.
The kids have (believe it or not) enjoyed school and all its
activities. Sports, scouts, dance, and the children's activities at the
church have all required a major investment of time from Brandi and I.
We look forward to being involved getting to know many of you as in
these kinds of activities you when we arrive. We look forward to
arriving at the beginning of July and joining with you as we share
Christ in our community!
